Jessica Moreno found the inspiration for Haute Moxie in the casual chic and seemingly effortless style of Parisian women. As she says, "The clothes you live your life in should be comfortable, bold, and inspire confidence."
Her entrepreneurial spirit is deeply engrained in her roots. Jessica spent over a decade working in the fashion industry as a buyer for her family's business, which opened its doors in 1955. This experience opened her eyes to the disconnect that existed in the US market.
Trending European designs and collections imported to the US have always centered on formal attire, often ignoring the up-and-coming everyday trends in casual wear.
Jessica created Haute Moxie to fill this industry gap.
THE INSPIRATION
In 2018, during a family vacation touring France, Jessica began entertaining the idea of opening a boutique that would bring trending casual European designs to the US. Her inspiration would come while wondering various side streets of the fashion district in Paris, stumbling upon small designer boutiques that were frequented by Parisian women but virtually unknown stateside.
These designs were bold, sophisticated, and chic. They prioritize comfort above all else to cater to the urban and walk everywhere culture of Paris. Street styles that were more than just a look, they were functional. She knew these styles would appeal to the always on the go life of everyday women everywhere.
THE 8TH DAY
On the 8th day of a trip to Paris in November 2022, Jessica sat quietly people watching while eating lunch at a crowded sidewalk café.
She knew she wanted to include Haute in her brand name because it captured the chic and sophisticated styling she was striving for with her collection. But her branding needed something more, something to convey confidence and boldness. Something that captured the tenacity, determination, and self-assurance she saw in the women passing by going about their lives.
With just a few minutes of research she stumbled upon the formal definition of Moxie and she knew she had found it. She jotted down Haute Moxie on her napkin and the brand was born.
HAUTE – Adjective. Fashionably elegant or high-class.
MOXIE – Noun. Force of character, determination, or nerve.
